Following Hurricane Helene in 2024, Leatherwood Mountains Resort is thankful to report that we have experienced minimal flood and wind damage. Despite the storm, our cabin rentals in Ferguson, North Carolina, are OPEN and ready to welcome guests with existing reservations and any travelers who have been displaced by the storm and need accommodation. Our cabin rentals range in sizes from 1–5 bedrooms. Keep reading below for more important details about how to get to Leatherwoods Mountains Resort and the amenities available to our guests on-site and in the surrounding community.
Our cabin rental resort is located near Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in Wilkes County. We have clear roads into our community from major highways. For the most accurate travel routes, we recommend checking the NCDOT sites.

Our community support and the volunteer clean-up efforts have been astounding. Restaurants and grocery stores are open and providing essential services in our community. Our resort also has high-speed internet and a reliable power supply. Saddlebrook, our resort’s on-site restaurant, is open on the weekends.
The Leatherwoods Mountains Resort team is currently assessing and repairing our Horse Trail Rides, Zip Line, Campground area, and Stall Rentals. We plan to reopen these amenities in mid-October. During this time, the trails are temporarily closed as we conduct safety assessments. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Visit Linville Falls, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Southern Appalachians. It’s a breathtaking three-tiered waterfall that cascades 2,000 feet from Grandfather Mountain into the Linville Gorge. Explore Grandfather Mountain, with rugged alpine trails and the famous Mile High Swinging Bridge. Take a drive to the historic Flat Top Manor at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, just 19 miles away from Leatherwood Mountains Resort. For a memorable adventure, visit Mount Mitchell State Park, the highest peak in the eastern U.S., featuring hiking trails, picnic spots, and panoramic views.
Fall getaways in the NC Blue Ridge Mountains offer a variety of seasonal festivals and activities.
